Genital herpes symptoms often include burning or itching, often with inflamation and blistering of the skin. Both HSV 1 (typically affecting the oral area) and HSV 2 (typically affecting the genital area) can cause sores/lesions in the genital area.
Many people infected with genital herpes have only a single herpes outbreak that goes undiagnosed. Others are completely asymptomatic (without symptoms). During an initial outbreak, someone who has been infected with herpes may also exhibit symptoms normally associated with the common cold.
